Jenna and Layla in California...

Jen and Layla made it to California, too bad the fires are making the air quality really bad. But we are having so much fun. Pete and I are having to time of our lives being grand-parents.
Jenna and Layla, two beautifil girls.

Matt loves being an uncle and is such a good one.
Aunt Wendi is one happy girl and loves being an aunt.
Precious little one, she misses her daddy though.

We went to our friend Kristen's house today and her sister Juli came over and met Layla. It was so fun to visit with them.

Life is good...

Dad out in on the front lawn visiting with Uncle Dennis and Aunt Dot. Lynn is there as well but he is behind the camera. Dad and mom would always set out on the front porch or front lawn and enjoy the evening and would watch the humming birds. When they set out there friends and family would always stop by and visit. It looks like nothing has changed, except mom isn't there. I am so thankful that dad does have family there to visit with and keep him company. Just seeing this picture brings back so many great memories of growing up on the farm. Love you dad.

Thank you so much cousin Lynn for taking this great picture and sending it to me.

Hair Cut...

Matt decided he wanted a hair cut .
Front view. I like it, but it seems weird as I have not seen him with short hair for about 5 years.

Deb, this is for you....

Here is little Layla, she is a busy little bee and is moving around in many positions all the time. Watch out Jen
Sitting up in her boppy, such a big girl.

Just finished her bottle and stretching. Such a cutie.
This is Jen's friend Robin, notice only with one "b" so obviously the wrong Robbin is there. hahahahah.
Off to the college world series to watch FSU and Stanford, Jen didn't have a hat to keep the sun off Layla so Jen came up with this. Layla's granpa is a gang cop, the first thing he asked was what color was the bandana? Cute little munchkin isn't she? Layla's dad went to college at FSU.

From all of us...Dad we love you and wish you a Happy Father's DayDad in his younger years...Mom always said he was so hansome.
She always warned us to watch out for those shy guys.
It is funny because all of his grand-sons are shy and hansome like him.
Dad, hope you have a great day.
Thank you for being such a great dad. For teaching us the value of hard work not only by telling us but by example. You always set such a good example for us. You taught us to be honest and that our word should mean something. You always said when we left the house to remember who we are and what we stand for. You always said you didn't have much but what you did have you gave freely. You always shared food from your garden or meat from what you raised. You worked hard in the coal mine and on the farm. I remember you coming home from the mine and it looked like you had eyeliner on, because you couldn't get all the coal dust off. I also remember wanting what was left over in your lunch box. I still have that lunch box. You always grew a wonderful garden and we never went hungry even if we had to eat liver and dandelions . I will always remember you having a bowl of bread and milk. A memory will always be of you in your overalls and of course the famous words when we wanted to sleep in so badly.
"It's morning on the farm" and we had to get up and pick potatoes or hall hay. What great memories that gives us now. I know you miss mom and the nights are lonely, I am sure she is with you and supporting you from beyond. I know she loves you and misses you too. We all love you!!
"My Last Name"
I learned how to write it when I first started school,
Some bully didn't like it, he said it didn't sound to cool,
So I had to hit him and all I said when the blood came,
It's my last name
Grandpa took off to europe to fight the germans in the war,
It came back on some dogtags nobody wears no more,
It's written on a headstone in the field where he was slain,
It's my last name
Passed down from generations too far back to trace,
I can see all my relations when I look into my face,
May never make it famous but I'll never bring it shame,
It's my last name
Daddy always told me far back as I recall,
Son, your part of somethin', you represent us all,
So keep it how you got it , as solid as it came,
It's my last name
Passed down from generations too far back to trace,
I can see all my relations when I look into my face,
May never make it famous but I'll never bring it shame,
It's my last name
So darlin' if you're wonderin' why I've got you here tonight,
I wanna be your husband, I want you to be my wife,
I ain't got much to give you but what I've got means everything,
It's my last name, oh, it's my last name
I learned how to write it when I first started school.

I Hate Tornados

Jen and Jeremy had a tornado alarm today and had to take the bathtub. They have their water, blankets and stuff for the baby already in the bathroom. Here is little Layla setting in the bathtub on her mommy, not know what is going on.
This is Jen, Layla and Jen's friend Robin who is out there visiting from California. What a visit!! They had to stay in the bathroom for about an hour until the alarm was lifted.

Lets hope tornado season doesn't last long. They had 4 die at a scout camp right across the border for where Jen is. Click here to read about it.

Check out Jen and Jeremy's blog. Video of Layla talking to her daddy.

Also check out Mike and Britt's blog, cute zoo pictures of the kids.

Silver Anniversary...

Today is Pete and Robbin's 25th wedding anniversary.
We took the weekend to celebrate. We went to Reno, of course we had to stop at Cabela's and shop. We went to some casino's and also the buffet. We don't do the buffet too much anymore, so we took it easy and did not overdo it. We drove up to Virginia City, gambled there a little bit. We love the old buildings and the history of the old west. We did some shopping, sight seeing and walked through the old cemetary. (fun except for the lizards) We had a hot tub in our room, it was nice and we talked about how fast the years have gone by and what we want to do when we retire. The next day we drove up Mt. Rose Highway to Lake Tahoe, we had lunch and enjoyed the scenery.
I have been so blessed to be married to my best friend for 25 years. He still makes me laugh, he is the love of my life, he is a great husband and daddy and we look forward to making more memories together.Pete and Robbin having lunch looking out over Lake Tahoe.

Crandall Mine...

I just saw this article in the Sun Advocate about the Crandall Mine and thought is was interesting. I also added a link about the Crandall Mine with the other links on our blog. The miners and their families are always in our prayers. I am proud to be a coal miners daughter!!

Papa Buddy in his garden...

Dad is so proud of his garden and looks forward to planting every year. Especially after a long winter in the house. He is a bit frustrated with his watermelon plants right now. He keeps a good eye on all the plants and nurtures them with lots of love.
He is out watering them individually and keeping a close eye on each one of them. He pulls the weeds daily. This is a tiny garden compared to what he used to grow when we were kids. Having the garden gives him something to do and he plants enough for him and his sisters to enjoy a great harvest. I know he also grows alot of stuff for Janae, with her diabetes she can eat alot of this without having to worry about her carbs. It is so nice to see these pictures of dad out in his element and with his signature overhalls on. Dad I miss you and love you. Can't wait to see you this summer.

I would like to thank cousin Lynn for sneaking down and taking the pictures for me. Dad doesn' t like cameras and probably would have run off if he would have seen it. Anyway, thanks so much Lynn and anytime you feel like taking pictures of dad or stuff around the farm please feel free to send them my way. I hear you have a great new camera so I am looking forward to watching dad's garden grow through your pictures. Also anything else you find interesting you can send my way. Thanks again Lynn, much appreciated!!

He did it...

Matt graduated last night.
This is after all the graduates set down and they were starting the ceremony.
Matt making his grand entrance...
Where's Waldo, oops I mean where's Matt?
Hint: right in the middle.

Matt getting his diploma
Matt and Wendi after the ceremony.
(Jen, Jeremy and Layla were not able to come out.)
Proud parents Pete and Robbin with their graduate.

Matt we are so proud of you and your accomplishments. Your talents amaze us and we can't wait to see what your future will bring. We love you and hope all your dreams come true. Reach for the stars and remember nothing you want is out of reach. Remember who you are and what you stand for. Know that we love and support you. We couldn't have asked for a better son. Thanks for making us proud. Now go follow your dreams.

Tornado Warnings...

I just got a call from Jen, there was a loud siren noise in the background. Jen said that was the alarm for a tornado warning. She said there was thunder and lightning. I remember when Pete and I were there visiting every Saturday morning the alarm goes off just to make sure the alarm is working correctly. I said "I hope you don't have a real alarm on Saturday morning, how would you know the difference?" So Omaha/Bellevue Nebraska is having tornado warnings tonight.

Anyway...scary stuff. Jen, Jeremy and baby Layla stay safe and you are in our prayers.

I was going through some old pictures and I found this one. I could not resist putting it up to show how far we have come. Just wanted to send a note out to my wonderful family. I know we have had our moments and we used to fight like crazy and drive mom and dad crazy. It makes me laugh thinking about it, but it also makes me feel a little bad. I can see moms big eyes as she would get so frustrated with us. I know now that we would do anything for each other and I know mom would be so proud of us.
Love you all!!!!

Dogs, you gotta love em'

Luke and Lily, what cute little puppies....
Well, Debby went out in the back yard to water her flowers.
She wasn't gone very long.
When she came back this is what she found...

Her leather couches have been turned into chew toys for Luke and Lily.
Sorry for laughing!! I really do feel bad!
Love ya Deb.

Dan and Connie...

Here is Dan and Connie at camp last summer. Here's what they are up to now... Dan is rapping up the Rob Zombie movie he has been working on. It is based on the comic book "The haunted world of El Superbeasto" by Rob Zombie. Not sure on the release date, Dan will let me know as soon as he hears. It looks like it will probably be this year though. After this movie wraps up he is looking at a job that might take him to England for about 6 months. Sounds like a great vacation for him and Connie.

Connie is still working at Utah Valley Medical Center 3 days a week. She also volunteers as a First Responder for Woodland Hills, the area which they live. They cannot afford their own Emergency Response Team so the residents that live there, most of them volunteer. (Fire, Police and EMT) She was just honored at a dinner with a plaque from the Payson EMT's for her volunteer work and quick response. Way to go Connie!!
